HiME refers to the ability to create solid objects from photons, as well as the females who wield this ability. All HiMEs have an identical birthmark shaped like the HiME symbol on various points of their bodies, usually the part of their bodies governed by their astrological sign.  HiMEs typically are associated with a classical element or some other theme.
Element is the name for the objects the HiMEs can create. Most take the form of some kind of weapon, but a couple have non-combat functions. A Child is a creature summoned for battle by a HiME. Most have some origin in mythological beasts or deities. Childs can be summoned anytime after a HiME has accepted her Child. They are linked to a HiME's most important person; when the Child dies, the HiME's most important person also dies, and the HiME loses her powers. |
 Age: 15-16 DOB: July 22 Constellation: Cancer Height: 157 cm Weight: 101.2 lbs Blood type: O Hair: Orange Eyes: Purple Mai is the older sister of Takumi, who has been sick since he was younger. Because of that, she's sacrificed a great deal to make sure she can pay his doctor bills, though the stress sometimes gets to her. She's a caring girl, always ready to look out for others, sometimes even at the expense of her own feelings. Her Elements are a pair of gold and emerald rings around her wrists and ankles that allow her to fly, generate flame streams, and create force fields. Her Child is Kagutsuchi. He has a large sword implanted through his head that was placed there by the Obsidian Lord 300 years ago as a partial seal on his power. He can manipulate and generate heat and flame on a near-nuclear scale. |
 Age: 14-15 DOB: November 4 Constellation: Scorpio Height: 147 cm Weight: 81.4 lbs Blood type: B Hair: Black Mikoto is a cat-like HiME who loves Mai's cooking. She's on a quest to find her long lost brother and often wishes people would treat her as if she wasn't so young. Her Element is a large jet-black claymore called Miroku, which is always with her and responds to her calling whenever she is not near it. Miroku posesses several special powers including the ability to cut through almost any objects without needing to be physically swung and the ability to summon energy blasts. When it uses these powers, glowing red eye-shaped markings appear on the blade. It was initially assumed that the sword itself was her Child, but it was later revealed to be a monstrous orge-like creature which wielded a gigantic spiked club which also bears the name Miroku. This Child is called the protector of the Obsidian Lord. |
 Age: 17-18 DOB: August 15 Constellation: Leo Height: 160 cm Weight: 103.4 lbs Blood type: A Hair: Dark Blue Eyes: Emerald Green Natsuki leads a double life: in one, she is just a normal Fuuka Academy student, but in the other, she is a girl on a mission. She seeks vengeance for her mother's death, which was seemingly by the hands of an organization known as the First District. Her Element are a pair of small firearms, which shoot ice bullets. Her Child is Duran, a silver and purple wolf named after the dog she had as a child. He has a pair of cannons on his back and can fire various Cartridge attacks--Flash, that generates blinding light, Chrome, which are high-powered ammunition shells, and Silver, which produces a barrage of icicles. |
 Age: 15 DOB: September 7 Constellation: Virgo Height: 156 cm Weight: 96.8 lbs Blood type: A Hair: Brown Akane is shy and has a crush on Kazuya Kurauchi. Her Element is a pair of tonfa. Her Child is Harry, who resembles a giant tiger. Harry can generate a powerful vacuum effect through the turbine blade on his chest and draw enemies into it, crushing and grinding them into nothingness. |
 Age: 15 DOB: Macrch 8 Constellation: Pisces Height: 154 cm Weight: 90.2 lbs Blood type: AB Hair: Brown Eyes: Green Yukino is the sidekick and best friend of Haruka. She's a shy girl who will do pretty much anything Haruka asks. Her Element are mirrors through which she can see all of Fuuka Gakuen with help of the spores her Child, Diana, a plant-like creature with long vine-like tendrils, spreads. The spores act as cameras and can also generate cloaking fields. |
 Age: 13 DOB: May 12 Constellation: Taurus Height: 149 cm Weight: 83.6 lbs Blood type: A Akira, who disguises herself as a boy to hide her HiME abilities because her father, the head of the Okuzaki ninja clan told her to, is Takumi's roommate. She tries to maintain a tough exterior, but soon grows to care for her roommate. Her weapon is a double-bladed dagger. Her Child is Gennai, which resembles a giant frog. The giant spotlights on Gennai's back are used in conjunction with Akira's Element to incapacitate an enemy. The lights would produce a shadow of the enemy in question, and Akira would throw her dagger at the shadow itself, effectively "pinning" it to the spot long enough for Gennai to destroy it with his "Jigoku Gama" attack, which is a giant spiked mace fired from Gennai's mouth and rotated at high speed like a drill. |
 Age: 14 DOB: June 13 Constellation: Gemini Height: 153 cm Weight: 88 lbs Blood type: B Hair: Red Eyes: Green Nao has decided to use her HiME powers to her advantage and often attacks unsuspecting males on the street late at night. A selfish girl loyal only to herself, Nao remains a loner intent on doing what's best for her regardless of other considerations. Her Elements are twin metal claws with red nails which can be used to ensnare enemies or cut through objects. Her Child is Julia, a a half-humanlike female spider with a scorpion tail. |
 Age: 24 DOB: April 6 Constellation: Aries Height: 157 cm Weight: 99 lbs Blood type: B Hair: Redish Brown Midori worked at the same restaurant as Mai until she decided she must quit to pursue her career. She seems to be the only one to accept wholeheartedly the mission of HiMEs - to keep the world safe from Orphan. Midori also becomes a subsitute teacher at Fuuka Academy. Her Element is a double-head axe on a polearm. Her Child is Gakutenou, a lion-like creature whose hind legs can transform into wheel-like extensions and travel at great speed. His wheels can also produce a powerful tornado that can immobilize enemies and the giant blade on his head can cut through solid stone with one swipe. |
 Age: 17-18 DOB: December 19 Constellation: Sagittarius Height: 162 cm Weight: 46 kg lbs Blood type: AB Hair: Light Hazelnut Eyes: Red As Student Counsel President, Shizuru commands a lot of respect at the Academy. She often sits in for Mashiro (the director of the academy) in sponsorship meetings. She comes off as playfully mischievous, adding a hint of sarcasm in just about everything she says as if she knows the Academy's secrets. Her best friend seems to be Natsuki. Her Element is a multi-sectioned naginata. Her Child is Kiyohime, which resembles a multiple-headed Hydra. |
 Age: 13 DOB: October 16 Constellation: Libra Height: 152 cm Weight: 90 lbs Blood type: O Eyes: yellowish Orange Shiho calls Tate her brother even though they are not related and follows him around everywhere. Her grandfather owns the local Fuuka Shrine. She became mentally unbalanced after learning Mai and Tate were developing feelings for each other, and initially used her HiME powers subconsciously to attack Mai. She later regained her sanity. Her Element is a flute. Her Child is Yatagarasu, a crow-like creature. |
 Age: 20 DOB: January 1 Constellation: Capricorn Height: 159 cm Weight: 96.8 lbs Blood type: A Yukariko is a nun at the local church. Through her faith, she tries her best to help the academy students cope with the trials and tribulations of school life. Her Element is a bow which fires energy-charged arrows. Her Child is called St. Vrus and resembles a Chess Knight. It can produce illusions over a wide area or completely trap a single person in a dream world. |
 DOB: February 3 Constellation: Aquarius Height: 161 cm Weight: 103.4 lbs Blood type: AB Hair: Pink Fumi is Mashiro's maid. Her Element is a large scythe and Mashiro is her Child. In the form of her child Mashiro is known as the Crystal Princess. She is older, has horns and carries a double-bladed sword with blue eye-like markings similar to Miroku. The two weapons seem to resonate with each other. |
